Nice price, nice color combo...go for it!

Needs more Arctic Metallic over black leather or leatherette
Otherwise, a solid NP.
Gib pls. That’s a very NP.

No 91 no care

That’ll need a cooling system refresh (including water pump), new plugs, new belts, probably tensioners, and transmission service at that mileage. That shit gets expensive. Probably want a PPI at a BMW dealer before you buy it, but I purchased my E46 at 111k miles and still have it at 191k miles.

To me pre-LCI E90s are always CP. They’re fugly.

“cooling system refresh”
- every bimmer ever LOL
Maintenance is no biggie and I get wholesale price via my work. Just wondering if the price is right for something this year and mileage.
If I clear some things up early, i’ll go check it out during lunch. Hopefully it doesn’t have any cosmetic things because that’s the area I suck at.

While I agree with Party-vi on the cooling system especially Texas heat and the Thermostat is plastic, seen below, but its not a huge issue. And its a timing chain and so just maybe a serpentine belt needs replaced. So a few hundred bucks to get it from great to amazing shape, which all of this is just preventive NP

indeed. I’ve done many things to these sort of cars and I get wholesale price at any dealer via my work. Just wasn’t sure the price was right for the mileage and age

Agreed, but pre-LCI E90s assault my eyes the most among them all.

oh hell I didn’t realize it was you asking - you already know all that stuff. Yes, $4,200 is a good deal.

Very NP. These are pretty easy to work on and the inline six is pretty solid. Go for it!! 328i has treated me very well and it’s at similar mileage. My 335i just crossed 80k and thankfully nothing big yet!!

after some time to research. I think this initial NP may turn to CP in time. This includes me having the means to do the work myself and getting wholesale price for dealer parts

Something is off here. The ad says that it’s a 2006 yet has a 3.0l engine. As a 3.0 this would be the N53, same engine as in my car, but that only came out in 2008. As a 2006 it basically can’t be a 3.0, has to be a 2.5, unless someone did an engine swap. Be warned, seller might know shit about the car.
![]() 06/06/2017 at 14:41 |

doesn’t this supposed to have the N52B25?
Corn fused
![]() 06/06/2017 at 14:46 |

Yep, should be a 2.5 N52B25, not N53B30.
![]() 06/06/2017 at 14:48 |

either way, this initial NP could go full CP at any time

Well, it’s probably the opposite of “I know what I have”.

I’d be worried about the block. N52's are known for splitting between the magnesium and aluminum parts of the block. Although at that mileage you might be ok in that it was already replaced or just won’t be an issue.
Other than that fear, NP all day. But I would only flip it. BMW reliability scares me (unless we’re talking E46/E39 era and older). Every time I talk to former co-workers who went to BMW for whatever reason they always tell me how shitty they are and how Mercedes is so much better built and reliability-wise. One guy was visiting us yesterday after spending the better part of the last year working for BMW in Vegas. He said they average at least two engine replacements every month. Warrantable failures mind you, not things determined to be caused by outside influence or lack of maintenance.

E90 especially early ones are not very good as I keep researching. This is a situation where a good NP can turn into a CP overnight via Vanos, transmission, trim, etc. even if I do the work and get wholesale prices on parts
![]() 06/12/2017 at 13:24 |
|
I wish my E90 had cold AC... LOL
Seems like NP but like you said, could turn CP any time. Maybe less so with the 325 than the 335 (at least mine, she has trouble holding on to her oil supply and tries in creative ways to lighten the load), but still a danger. Interior looks clean though!

yes sir. My Of Happenings post was the better choice in the end. not a rad E90, but a Merc version of a clean E46
